Peter Wilkins
Born: 1968 -- London, England
Resides: Clarke's Beach, Newfoundland

From a distance these works appear to be a mixture of Californian colourism and abstract expressionism. The colours and patterns create a strong visual impression, but examined more closely the viewer can see the details that create the patterns – landscapes that have been reflected and reconnected to extend a line of vision and creating multiple layers. Each component of the artwork is a manipulated digital photograph that examines common themes within landscape, whether it be the grass, rocks, or bays of the Avalon peninsular, or contrasting sunsets in Newfoundland and around the world.

The key aim of these works is to manipulate the visual impression and its subsequent interpretation by the viewer as they approach and retreat from each artwork, changing its very nature.
